The glenoid labrum is a fibrocartilaginous ring that encircles the glenoid (shoulder socket). The AIGH/MGH ligament attach to the anterior labrum and together these structures provide stability to the ball and socket joint.
The labrum is typically damaged as a result of a traumatic event. If the labrum is torn the resulting symptoms can be shoulder pain, limited motion, joint locking, weakness and shoulder instability.
